I discovered how to write a hello-world on an 8-bit Amstrad in the 80s (with no assembler on-hand and no www to download one from yet I had to hand-convert bytes in a hex-editor). Ever since then - even during my longest, darkest trials of the soul (like... Monday) - my inner nerd has always found a way to quietly remind me how amazing life is when we live in a time and place in history where humans have created such magic, ostensibly out of the very ground we walk on.
